MYP Yr 3 | Music| Course Overview

In this course students will develop their listening, composition and performance skills while studying the music of the Beatles. The students will be guided through learning activities that will guide them to being able to understand and answer the unit question below. The students will be guided through learning activities that will enable them to enquire about the time, place and importance of the Beatles and their effect on pop music, gaining a deeper insight into how the Beatles music became enduring and how they were music pioneers. The students will learn about different performance techniques used in rock music as a tool for presenting a Beatles song. The unit will culminate in the students presenting a lunch-time concert, with some groups having their compositions/performances recorded.

Unit Question: What makes “The Beatles” music pioneers?
Summative assessment: In groups, the students will perform a Beatles song that indicates their understanding of the unit question. The students will reflect on their group performance in the form of a performance process portfolio.
