How does the PTA benefit me?

The DC PTA is a chance to come together with other parents who are committed to improving the school now, and for the future. It’s your opportunity to positively influence important decisions, to help raise and allocate funds, suggest projects, and to help garner ever better relations between every group in the school.

How does my family join?
Easy! As part of the ESF Ordinance, every family is required to pay an annual subscription of HK$250 to their school PTA. If you have not paid your PTA membership subscription, please download the form below and send in your family’s payment.

Discovery College PTA has joined the new billing system for the collection of PTA membership fees by ESF Centre for the coming school year. Please contact Ken Tong at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for information on how to settle the payment through ESF Centre.

Information on becoming part of the DC PTA committee will be sent to all families at the start of the academic year.

The more people get involved, the better!

Thank You From Your PTA Committee!

What an amazing school year it has been at our new campus in Discovery Bay.

Your PTA Committee was hard at work this school year setting up the PTA Shop, working on transportation arrangements, organizing events, supporting school activities, raising funds and helping parents and students get settled in school.

This year, we decided to focus all of the PTA’s fundraising efforts to build an adventure playground in the school. Our goal is to provide Discovery College students with a safe and supportive structure in line with the school PE programme while providing lots of opportunities for natural exploration. Because this is an ambitious project, we also had an ambitious fundraising goal. So far, we have raised more than HK$190,000. Donations for this very worthwhile cause are most welcome so please approach the PTA Committee if you would like to help us reach our goal faster.

The major events we organized this school year included the first annual Family Fun Day, the Celebration Dinner, the Bingo Night, and the Performing Arts Week.

Right after being elected, the PTA Committee kicked off the school year with the school’s first annual Family Fun Day in November, which proved to be a big hit with the more than 1,000 people in attendance. Students, their families and friends, teachers and staff spread picnic blankets by the lower courtyard. Nearly 50 teams competed in the fun and exciting DC Challenge, which was a test of strength, brainpower and sheer determination!

The main atrium of the school was transformed into an enchanting venue for the Celebration Dinner in December. That jump started the fundraising for the school playground with more than $100,000 raised on the night from an auction of great prizes donated by parents and wonderful art work created by the students. Chartwells wowed everyone with the sumptuous dinner buffet and everyone danced the night away to the music of Signal 8 band and had lots of fun!

More than 100 people graced the Bingo Night in March, which brought out the competitive streak in everyone. It was an exhilarating night filled with lots of prizes. The Easter Egg Raffle in April turned out to be a popular activity that put smiles on the winners in the run-up to the Easter break. The second annual Katie Jones Spelling Bee was also held in May, with Becky Zhang winning the competition for the second straight year. The Mother/Daughter session conducted by the very informative and entertaining Nurse Jackie Simpson in May was much appreciated by the attendees.

The second annual Performing Arts Week held in May had everything from the African Children Watoto Choir from Uganda to the Hip Hop Dance crew. Kids watched excerpts from the Wizard of Oz, Scotty & Lulu’s Happy Crew as well as our own DC students’ performance at our brand new theatre. A comedy night and an intimate gathering with a pianist and cellist in their rendition of Sibelius works during the Finnish concert were also held.

Last, but certainly not the least, the DC Dragon Boat Team and DC Cheer Club organized by the PTA proudly represented the whole school community during the Discovery Bay Dragon Boat Races & Carnival in May. Months of hard work were rewarded, with the Dragon Boat team making it all the way to compete in the finals and the Cheer Club winning the grand prize in the Best Cheerleading Competition.

In recognition of their valuable support, thank you to our sponsors this school year: EPS Property, DB Golf Cart Service Ltd, HK First Class Academy Tutorial School, Koh Tom Yums, Dymocks Discovery Bay, Christy Asia, Chef Pour Toi, Montrose Fine Wines and Chartwells. Thank you to the Education Bureau for providing us with the Total Home-School Co-operation Project grants, which helped subsidize some of our activities.

Very special thanks to all the parents, teachers, staff and students who volunteered their time for all our events and activities. Your support has meant so much!

The PTA is an opportunity for parents, teachers and staff of Discovery College to work together for the welfare of the students, and it has been our pleasure to serve the school community.

Thank you,
The PTA Committee
